Harry Souttar enjoyed a very good World Cup campaign with Australia and will be hoping to continue that form when theChampionshipcampaign resumes forStoke City.

The 24-year-old, who started just one league match before the international break, had missed a full year of Championship action after suffering a knee injury.

Being on the radars of Premier League clubs at that point, it remains to be seen if the young defender will attract interest when the January transfer window opens.

Sharing his thoughts on Souttar and whether or not he could see the young defender appearing on the radars of Premier League clubs this January,Carlton Palmer told Football League World:Yeah, for sure.

Premier League clubs were looking at him before he had a knee injury and to come back the way he has come back after being out for almost a year going into the World Cup has been really impressive.

Hes played very, very well (at the World Cup) so of course clubs are going to be looking at him.

We will see how he goes now with the recovery from his knee injury and if he keeps performing the way that he that he has going into January, I think there will be Premier League clubs who will be after him.

Souttar is an excellent defender who certainly deserved the Premier League interest he was attracting last season, with his performances at the World Cup proving that his injury has not had a negative impact on him.

It will be interesting to see if interest does emerge ahead of January, with clubs typically not having as many funds compared to the summer.

Physically and aerially dominant, an intelligent defender and very good on the ball, Souttar ticks a lot of boxes for clubs who will be assessing their defensive options.

A deal in January might be too soon but it may be quite difficult for the Potters to keep hold of the 24-year-old over the next eight months or so.
