Stoke City defender Harry Souttar has been selected for the Australian World Cup squad that will head to Qatar in just a matter of days.
The selection comes as the 24-year-old enters the final stages of his comeback from a long-term cruciate knee ligament injury. The centre-back made two appearances for Stokes U21 team at the end of last month, before being included on the first team bench for the first time this season against Birmingham City.
It is thought that the defender could feature in tonights Championship game against Luton Town at the Bet365 Stadium. An appearance could help to build his fitness up before heading to the tournament with Australia.

The Aussies are in Group D for the competition, which kicks off this month. Their first game sees them take on current World Champions France on Tuesday, November 22, with games against Tunisia and Denmark also scheduled.
Souttars injury had made him a doubt for the Socceroos squad, but the defender has been included in the announcement made on Tuesday morning. Upon the announcement, Stoke took to social media to give their reaction: Congratulations @harryjsouttar! Qatar awaits, they wrote on Twitter.
WhileStokefans are happy for the defender. The news has been met with apprehension by some after the players long injury lay-off.
Ollie Long: Why are we letting him go, only just returned from a long injury
Stavross: 100% @harryjsouttar is playing tonight. He needs games and we need him back where he belongs. Congratulations on going to the world Cup
Daz Dodd: Hopefully hell get minutes on the pitch and come back fit and firing for the Potters in December
Rori: Good on him, but is it really a good decision letting him go?
Nath: Hell only play 3 group games its not like hes going to the final, Its good to get some much needed minutes in something other than U23s
